ELENESSA elevators can be equipped with the optional Smooth Emergency Terminal Slowdown (SETS) technology to reduce the pit depth and overhead height of the elevator hoistway, as well as to increase the available space of the building. As the key technology of future elevator system, SETS is helpful for reducing the dependence on mechanical safety device with complex structure and simple function, and thereby significantly contributes to the miniaturization and high performance of components.
This technology is adopted in the industry for the first time; with this technology, the speed of elevator can vary with the number of passengers to shorten the waiting and riding time. As an optional configuration, the system makes use of the balance between the elevator car and the counterweight to increase the operation speed according to the number of the passengers. Comparing with traditional elevators operate at a rated speed, the VSE system can shorten the waiting and riding time and enable the elevator to operate more effectively in the building; it is a new elevator system designed to eliminate the poor transport results caused by long waiting time and slow operation speed.

The elevator motion generally obtains energy from the power supply (operation in electric mode); however, when it moves down with heavy load or moves up with light load (operation in power generation mode), the working condition of the traction machine equals to that of the generator. Generally, the energy generated by the traction machine diverges in the form of thermal energy, the energy feedback technology based on PWM control feeds the regenerated energy that is generated when the traction machine is in power generation mode back to the power grid; comparing with elevators without energy feedback device, it can save energy by about 30%. Meanwhile, this makes the incoming current at the power supply side as sinusoidal waveform, thus greatly reducing the harmonic pollution to the power. In addition, the voltage at the DC side is controlled, which is helpful for the stable operation of the elevator.
